Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe reprise their roles from the film, as Spider-Man and the Green Goblin, respectively, while Bruce Campbell, who played a wrestling ring announcer in the film, narrates the game's tutorial and bonus levels. While the game directly adapts the plot of the film it is based on, it also builds upon it by including scenes and villains not present in the film. The Game Boy Advance version was later re-released and bundled on Twin Pack cartridge with Spider-Man 2: The Game in 2005. Made to promote the film of the same name, it was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance on Apin North America (two weeks before the film's release), and June 7 in Europe.

Spider-Man is a level based action game, with you playing as Spider-Man. The game has many scenes and villains that did not appear in the film.
